Founded in 1991, Schuyler House develops user-friendly, inexpensive laboratory
information system (LIS) and other medical field software. Schuyler House
markets the Schulab LIS for clinical laboratories. A PC-based system, Schulab
supports bi-directional online instrument interfaces to process patient
and QC data using Westgard rules. It manages specimen work flow by generating
barcodes, tracking outstanding tests, and creating and processing worksheets.
It maintains patient databases and generates cumulative patient or individual
specimen reports. The LIS archives patient reports to meet CLIA record keeping
requirements, and can be expanded to meet new requirements as the lab increases
in size.
SchuyLab is specifically designed to serve physician's office laboratories,
reference laboratories, and moderate size hospital laboratories. Installation
and initial training are included in the purchase price, while monthly maintenance
is provided in an on-going contract. A single SchuyLab station with two
or three online instruments can handle all of the processing necessary for
a small laboratory, and is easily expandable to a network to keep pace with
lab growth without loss of the initial LIS.
