Dataworks Development, Inc. has delivered quality data management solutions to research and clinical laboratories since 1985. Their focus is on freezer inventory, sample tracking and sample management. They offer two software solutions: Freezerworks and Freezerworks Unlimited. Both solutions are written and validated according to FDA Guidelines for Software Development and are 21 CFR Part 11 compliant.

Freezerworks tracks frozen samples. It accommodates all freezers and tanks and has features for assigning freezer positions, moving samples, and importing and exporting data. It is designed for laboratories and institutions that need to store a limited amount of information about their samples.

Freezerworks Unlimited offers up to 2,000 user-defined fields and provides the laboratory with the ability to keep track of much more data on each sample. Labs can design multiple data entry screens and assign them to specific users. With the ability to hide select data from unauthorized personnel, Freezerworks Unlimited offers a high level of system security.

While Freezerworks focuses on sample and materials management, the company reports that a number of their clients are using it as a LIMS because it can manage a laboratory's workflow.  Hence additional features that give Freezerworks LIMS capabilities -- sample login, tests requested, import capabilities to update existing records with test results, reporting and etc. -- have been added.
