Dawning Technologies, Inc. are clinical instrument interface specialists
that have been in operation since 1984. They provide off-the-shelf PC-based
analyzer interface solutions for hundreds of popular laboratory instruments.
Of particular interest to LIS and LIMS users is their new Secure Network
Interface (SNI) product, which provides secure and confidential real-time
access to RS232-based devices over Internet and private networks.
In a typical data collection application, the SNI would interact with the
connected device using the appropriate protocol to receive the data. The
program may optionally test and reformat the information, storing it in
an internal nonvolatile file system. Separate delivery tasks are user-defined
to forward the newly created/modified file(s) using FTP or email to remote
hosts through the network.
