National Instruments offers numerous products for the lab, including LabVIEW
graphical instrumentation software for programming laboratory functions.
Capabilities include data acquisition, instrument control, data analysis,
and data presentation that simplifies the development of instrumentation
and analysis applications. Engineers and scientists using the product have
access to extensive libraries of tools for creating custom user interfaces,
such as a library of ready-to-use controls, graphs, and strip charts similar
to those fund on traditional benchtop instruments, and for acquiring and
analyzing data. LabVIEW is available for Windows-based PCs, Sun SPARCstations,
and Macintosh computers. Two books have been written about this product
that offer pointers on how to optimize LabVIEW for the reader's laboratory
or for use as a general training tool.
