Discovery LIMS, or D-LIMS, uses a web interface to initiate laboratory requests, track sample progress, and report results. This LIMS solution, however, is an inventory management system as opposed to an information management system. It is designed explicitly for the discovery process. It has no machine interfaces. It cannot be automated. It's a light-weight application that can be used to initiate requests, track progress, and report results. Key features include the ability to track request initiation dates and status, maintain a full request history, allow requests to be sub-assigned within a lab and tracked, record results and links to MS Word reports in the document manager (or other server). Discovery LIMS can utilize Oracle or MS Access as the back-end database.
