About Siemens and LIMS

Siemens has more than 280 LIMS installations worldwide. Simatic IT Unilab is available as a stand alone product or as part of the Siemens Manufacturing Execution System (MES) product portfolio, Simatic IT. Simatic IT consists of Simatic IT Framework (plant modelling) and MES functionality, Simatic IT Unilab (LIMS), Simatic IT Interspec (Product Specification Management System), and Simatic IT Historian (Plant Performance Analysis and Plant Data Management.

Founded in 1985 as an independent software company, Siemens / Compex IT Plant Solutions has been in the LIMS business since the end of the 1980's. Its LIMS product, Unilab, was introduced in 1989 and has become the LIMS for a number of multinational concerns in the batch process industry.

In August 2001, Compex was acquired by Siemens. Now, Simatic IT Unilab is offered and supported worldwide by the Siemens sales channels and integration services, as well as by selected external technology and system integration partners.
