Contec Group International Ltd. is a software development company based in
New Zealand and operating internationally. The company operates two separate
divisions, one associated with the Dairy Industry and the other being Library
and Information Management.
Their high volume integrated LIMS, MADCAP V, is used in very large laboratories
to analyse samples and store all types of information. For example, one lab
performs an average of 13,500 supplier samples per day, giving about 58,000
test results per day, or 17 million results per year. The software is written
using a state-of-the art development platform.
Features include:
• an integrated database, meaning that third party software such as
Oracle is not required, thus no extra charge for database licences
• built-in Thin Client and Smart Thin Client software, which enables
full operation of the system from any remote location, including remote instruments
• transaction processing, which means, for example, that power failure
will not cause system data corruption: the system will automatically recover
when re-started
• voice response to phoned enquiries, also automatic email and fax
• fully enabled Web Client for data access, (under security control)
for use by non-(MAF) staff who would not have access to the full system
• runs on the Windows OS
The MADCAP V system offers:
• Case and sample registration / tracking
• Multiple databases
• Unlimited number of samples
• Sample selection according to protocols
• Data entry – manual and automatic (readily configurable for
all laboratory instruments. Some current examples are: Foss MilkoScans, Foss
BactoScans, Nephelometers, Colony Counters, ELISA readers. Other instruments
can be configured as required.
• Results reporting – automatic compilation and transmission;
manual reporting
• Invoicing
• Security systems for user / data access
• Easy and rapid customisation to suit the laboratory
• Storage of graphic images as required
