LabPro 2000 Ltd is a new company (April 2000) which has acquired LabPro, the LIMS package previously marketed by Progressive Systems Ltd. The entire existing customer base from Progressive Systems Ltd has been switched to LabPro 2000 Ltd for support and maintenance throughout Australia and New Zealand.

LabPro is laboratory QA solution for any testing laboratory. LabPro can be used for the simplest of testing through to the most complex of manufacturing sample registration and testing schemes. LabPro handles automatic sample and testing registration for 'in-process' and finished product, result entry, result validation, invoicing, quality reporting, product grading and product certification though to finished product release. Results can be automatically recorded from any communication capable laboratory test instrument. Finished product status can be Exported to various 'Manufacturing' systems. LabPro has been developed over a 10-year period and has been successfully sold and implemented in most of the New Zealand dairy manufacturing companies, a major brewery in Australia, a major wool-testing laboratory and water treatment plants throughout
New Zealand.

LabPro allows users to control all aspects of laboratory management. It is composed of a suite of programs that are designed to meet the specific reqqirements of laboratory and manufacturing environments. Key functions and facilities include testing specifications, sampling schemes, sample attributes, data acquisition interfaces, and result entry. LabPro proactively supports the establishment and maintenance of quality procedures and standards.

LabPro has been developed using PROGRESS® 4GL while the LabPro database was created using PROGRESS® DBMS. There are two main LabPro products: LabPro 2.x (Standard) and LabPro 3.x (Lite). The LabPro 2.x version is the standard product and is suited to sites conducting a large and varied quantity of tests; i.e., manufacturing processes. The LabPro 3.x version is a 'cut down' version of LabPro; i.e., it does not contain the full functionality of the Standard version. This version is best suited to the smaller independent lab, or where testing is only of a finished product. Although both versions of LabPro are PROGRESS® Character applications, they are designed to run in both Terminal and Client/Server environments. In addition several modules are available for specific needs such as production of Certificates of Analysis (COAs).
