PE offers LABWORKS LIMS was first introduced over 15 years ago as one of the
first PC-Based LIMS. Since then, LABWORKS has grown and offers total LIMS solutions
for a variety of applications. LABWORKS Enterprise is a 32-Bit client/server
application that runs on several different database platforms (including Oracle,
Access, SQL Server, SyBase, etc.).
The latest version of LABWORKS is LABWORKS ES (Enhanced Security) LIMS, an enterprise
software solution for virtually any laboratory setting. LABWORKS ES LIMS incorporates
support for electronic records and signatures. It generates an electronic signature
each time data is entered or modified. Each entry can be traced back to its
source and a chain of custody automatically established.
LABWORKS ES also includes significant enhancements in security including a single,
centralized point of authentication that controls access to all applications
and data. Data is also protected from accidental or international intervention
by providing access to authorized persons only.
LABWORKS ES also provides one of the most comprehensive language capabilities
in the LIMS market, including native versions in French, German, Italian, Spanish,
Japanese and Chinese. The new LABWORKS ES software is one of the first on the
market to support double-byte characters for true Asian language support. Users
will have the ability to select their language when they load the software and
for even greater flexibility, users with a networked installation, can each
run different languages.
LABWORKS ES LIMS automates instruments, integrates laboratory processes and
provides sample information management and quality control, from sample entry
and analysis to reporting and approval. With a history of top-rated customer
support and industry-leading technology, PerkinElmer LABWORKS has consistently

In addition, PerkinElmer
sells the Wallac Specimen Gate LIMS, which is developed for screening environments,
and to helps users manage their entire screening program. Specimen Gate extends
the idea of screening information management from laboratory processes to other
tasks in the screening program. In addition to laboratory process control, Specimen
Gate includes instrument maintenance follow-up, biobank management, follow-up,
patient case management, statistical reporting, performance monitoring, audit,
research tools and many other functions not directly within the scope of the
laboratory information management system.
