ASTM LIMS Subcommittee Seeks Input Finalizing New LIMS Validation Guide

The ASTM LIMS subcomittee, E-49.07, is in the process of finalizing the new LIMS Validation Guide. The standard will be going to ballot a second time this spring. If the document meets the ASTM criteria for passage, it will be presented to the final group for balloting later this summer. If all goes well, the standard should be ready for publication this fall or winter. The subcommittee would like to have the LIMS community aid in this process by providing comments and input. Perkin-Elmer Nelson Announces Release 2 of Turbochrom C/S CDS

PE Nelson has announced new security features in Release 2 of its Turbochrom Client/Server Chromatography Data System (CDS). The Turbochrom CDS offers enhanced networked data acquisition from any commercial gas chromatograph (GC) or liquid chromatograph (LC). New security features include an Electronic Signature entry for all audit trail records, and added controls to permit system administrators mandating Audit trailing and/or Electronic Signature on files created by users who belong to specific job groups. Users can be assigned to specific instruments allowing them to work separately from others in the laboratory. The company states that this CDS is particularly well suited for Good Automated Laboratory Practice (GALP) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) environments. For details, contact PE Nelson at (203) 762-4000 or 888-PE-CHROM.

Thermo LabSystems Launches ATLAS CDS

Thermo LabSystems launched their ATLAS Chromatography Data System (CDS) at the recent Pittsburgh Conference in New Orleans. A new system designed to the specifications of chromatography users from the pharmaceutical and petrochemical industries, ATLAS meets hitherto unfulfilled requirements. It is a PC-based system, targeted at the networked CDS marketplace and written exclusively for Win32 systems (Windows 95 and Windows NT) -- the de facto corporate standard in scientific environments.
