a Tender for Purchase, Implementation and Maintenance of LIMS and the
Al Mukhtar Contracting & Trading Company in Doha, Qatar, forwarded the information

users at two offshore locations, must be SAP compliant, and use an Oracle 8i database.

The Calendar and What's New
pages have just received a major influx of news. The Calendar
now lists seven more seminars/short courses as well as details about nine more
tradeshows and conferences. The What's New
pages have been updated with the new product announcements (apart from those introduced
at the Pittsburgh Conference) for the months of March and April. And, there's
one more course to add to the LIMS Summer School roster -- this one on Laboratory

It will have been worth the
wait ... the BIGGEST update ever (well ever since it was first launched) has just
been placed in the LIMSource. 46 new pages have been added. The information includes
a quickie wrap-up of the new products
and vendors that appeared at the recent Pittsburgh Conference as well as 6 new
pages of LIMS vendors who appeared
for that show. But wait! There were another 4 LIMS vendors who didn't attend the
show but have been waiting patiently for a listing to appear. All 10 pages are
now loaded and ready for your perusal. In addition to beefing-up the LIMS vendors
and products pages, the Library
got an update with the addition of 5 more analytical publications, mainly from
niche industries such as food and biotechnology. And, the LIMSzine
has a new Applications area which provides a hot-link to one of the Webmaster's
articles that recently appeared in Today's Chemist on food technology, as well
as a significant number of articles on ISO 9000 quality system -- both the implementation

Just in -- the first of a
series of Surveys to determine user interest in a variety of LIMS issues has just
been posted in the User Community pages.
This survey is designed to solicit interest in a LIMS Summer School to take place
this summer. Please take a few minutes to contribute! In addition, European
Pharmaceutical Review has been added to the magazine pages in the Library

Latest updates include turnover

pages (of course), as well as a Call for Nominations for the 1997
LIMS Award on the LIMS '97 page. Two new vendors have been added to the Products

Inc. The Pre-Pittcon LIMS Preview has been updated with new information as

As you noticed, the home page
has been updated. This is the beginning of a series of modifications to come based
upon additional directories that will be added to provide even more information
and better ways to access it. For starters, there's a Pre-Pittcon LIMS Preview
page that has been added to the Calendar directory. This page will be continuously
updated as more information comes in closer to the event. In addition the User
Community pages have been expanded to include details about the Irish
LIMS Forum, as well as the latest news about the LIMS

The What's
New in the Industry pages have been updated, shelving the previous two months
worth of news releases and starting a new page for January. The Calendar
pages have also been updated with the addition of many new tradeshows that address
the clinical/medical marketplace. The Magazines/Publications
pages in the Library have also been updated with the addition of four new publications

There's been a bit of rearrangement
in the LIMS Products & Services pages, with the elimination of the single
page on general laboratory products and the inclusion of expanded listings for
Earthsoft, LC Resources, Scientific Software, Waters Corporation and WindowChem
Software in the Lab Data Automation
Products pages; several vendors now have web pages of their own so numerous
pages were updated in the Products/Vendors
pages with links to the new web addresses; Consulting Expertise Center has been
added to the Service/Support Providers
pages; and Charles Goldszmidt and Rob Bailey have been added to the Consultants

The Winter issue of the LIMS/Letter
has been added to the LIMS/Letter archives.
This issue includes an in-depth report on Data Warehousing and what this new technology
means to LIMS users, as well as articles and presentations on a variety of topics

There have been a number of
changes to the LIMSource in the past few weeks, not the least of which is the
creation of the LIMSzine directory. The LIMSzine
will provide articles on current issues, application notes, presentations and
case studies on LIMS, and is being launched thanks to Scientific Computing &
Automation magazine which has allowed reprints of the Webmaster's lab data management
column. Check it out!
In reaction to the addition of the LIMSzine, there's been a shuffle of the LIMSource
contents. You'll now find the LIMS Institute and the LIMS Mailing List pages under
